Doesn't this Transformation Scene look rather Christmassy?
Garrick: Time for Shugo Chara!! Doki! I’ve been catching up on all 65 episodes to get to review this episode, and in the end, it all worked out okay. We get a Christmas episode on Christmas Eve! How nice. ^_^ Anyhow, I should provide a little synopsis of the characters and the story… but 60+ episodes is hard to do. I’ll try, though.
Garrick: Shugo Charas are essentially Guardian Spirits that represent what the owner of the Shugo Chara wants to be deep inside his or her heart. Their dreams manifest themselves and become their would-be selves (that is used SO much in the anime), a Shugo Chara. Our main character, Amu Hinamori, has 4 Shugo Charas (most people have 1), Ran, Miki, Su, and the unborn (still in an egg, which holds an unborn Shugo Chara, known as a Shugo Tama) Dia. Amu has 4 Shugo Charas because… well, she wants to be a lot of things, apparently.
Garrick: As for the other characters, we have the princely (but don’t say that to his face), Tadase Hotori. Essentially a bishie in the early elementary school stages, his Shugo Chara is Kiseki… who wants to rule the world. How awesome is that. We also have Rima Mashiro, a quiet and calm girl… who’s also as adorable as a doll… starkly contrasting her Shugo Chara, Kusu Kusu… a clown. Then, we have the shildish yet also cute, Yaya Yuiki, who acts childish… because she likes it. As for her Shugo Chara… it’s a baby. How fitting.
Garrick: Finally, we have Nagihiko, who is also a character from the past episodes, Nadeshiko. Only difference… Nagihiko’s a boy. Nadeshiko’s a girl. What happened, you ask? Essentially… Nagihiko was a crossdresser for the first set of episodes. Not that that’s bad. Genderbending = awesome. Anyhow, he has 2 Shugo Charas, one is unborn, and the other, Temari, was awake and alive at one point, but returned to her egg… This happens due to a lot of reasons, including not believing in the Shugo Chara… and yeah. Lots of other things. I should state that only people that either have a Shugo Chara or a differentiated Shugo Tama, or have had one in the past, can see Shugo Charas and Shugo Tamas.
Garrick: As for villains/neutral-ish characters, we have Tsukiyomi Ikuto, a cool cat character (pun intended) and his Shugo Chara, Yoru… A cat. And finally, we have Hoshina Utau, Ikuto’s admirer (she’d love to say lover…) and… blood-related sister. Hurray for incest. As for her Shugo Charas, we have the Angel, Eru, and the Devil, Iru. And… other villains are the evil organization Easter (so many egg names) and the eggs they utilize, the X-Eggs (Batsu meaning X, and Tama meaning egg, or Batsutama), which hatch into evil Batsucharas. These X-Eggs appear when a person’s dream and pure Heart’s Egg is… for lack of a better word, destroyed. The owners of these eggs end up being depressed… as anyone would be when their dream is crushed.
Garrick: And finally, we have our main villain for the Doki! series, Lulu de Morcerf… and her Shugo Chara, Nana. These two have the ability to create a new egg, the Nazotama (Nazo meaning ‘?’, and tama… once again meaning egg). These Nazotamas hatch into Nazocharas… which, unlike Batsucharas are not created by crushing a dream, but making a dream real in… an evil way. These Nazucharas usually, when stopped, revert into X-Charas… who are then Purified by Amu’s Open Heart, a skill only she has.
Garrick: Easter, and most everyone’s motivation for their Shugo Charas is to obtain the Embryo (more egg-y words) an egg that can grant wishes. How typical. It appears that this egg appears when disturbances to mass numbers of eggs appears. So… that’s where a lot of the schemes of Easter are based around. While I could go into a lot more detail, this is all we need for this episode… so here we go.
