Ah Yuko, you and your alcohol.

Ah Yuuko, you and your alcohol.

Ric: Hello and welcome to the Watanuki Kimihiro cooking challenge where today, we shall be making a delicious cake made exactly to the desires of Watanuki’s personal customer; Ms. Nutjob.  I’m sorry I’m late but I can’t think of a reason why so onward we go!

By the way, I lied about the cake.

Anyway, before I get lynched it’s time to review. In this chapter we’re coming to the end of the “Watanuki’s Customer” arc, him having requested the use of Yuuko’s kitchen for the job. Of course, as shown in the image up top, Yuuko won’t let him use it without a price, the mighty alcohol! Of course, there’s some kind of reason as to why he wants to cook there rather than at his client’s home, but CLAMP don’t want to tell us this yet so you’ll have to wait till I do.

When they get to the kitchen, it turns out they aren’t making anything complicated at all (Sorry, no cake here either) but they’re in fact making rice balls.  The client (Who still hasn’t been named…) says that she can make those without being instructed. Of course, now is the time to see Watanuki’s reasoning, he doesn’t want to make anything fancy today, he wants her to eat the food she makes! Yay! Hopefully this will help her with things, or not?

Condoning underage drinking Mokona? For shame. =[

Condoning underage drinking Mokona? For shame. =[

Of course, before we find out we jump over to a conversation between Doumeki and Mokona, CLAMP using this to tease us by showing us that the two are actually interested in the situation, them wondering whether the client will actually eat her own cooking.

Sadly we don’t see much of this as within six panels we’re sent right back to Watanuki and his client, his client trying to reason out of eating her own food, only for Watanuki to reveal his mind reading powers, allowing him to even finish her sentence for her!

Watanuki uses his mighty (well, not really.) reasoning powers to make her realize that she’s fine with watching and touching these things she finds so disgusting. When [Client] figures this out, she’s shocked, barely able to comprehend what she has just learnt.

While she figures this out, we head back to Doumeki and Mokona, who are visited by the lovely duo of Himawari and Kohane who coincidentally were both heading to Yuko’s shop at the same time. I’m not complaining, I love both of them. <3

Apparently both of them also had the same reason to come, our magical Watanuki, accidental creator of harems and now proffesional mind reader. Kohane asks where Watanuki is, Mokona saying he’s in the kitchen with a client, leading us back to Watanuki and his client, who is having things explained to her yet again.

Watanuki says that he has no memory of tasting his food, confusing [Client] even more until Watanuki says that he can cook because, while his mind doesn’t remember, his body does. He says that he enjoys cooking because he enjoys what he has made. He says that the cook reflects themselves in their cooking, shocking his client yet again with this comparison.

He says that it’s because you want those who eat the food to know the real you that you continue to cook, that in turn eating the food that you make is a way to get to know yourself. And CLAMP, you fiends, you gave us a cliffie. YOU FIENDS! YOU BRILLIANT FIENDS!

Anyway, overall this was a nice chapter, leaving us with a sort of cliffhanger to make everyone wonder just how [Client] is going to react to Watanuki’s words of wisdom. Yet again, CLAMP have proven themselves to be both pure evil and pure awesome at the same time. I would take my hat off to this, but I’m not wearing one, so I won’t. Thank you all for reading, and I hope you enjoy the cake that I lied to you about.

I know I did.
