Minnie: Bokura ga Ita is one of the most addicting manga in existence. I don’t even know why the people working on this manga takes so long. Maybe they are buying their time because the mangaka is on hiatus? Anyways, Chapter 46 is out and without reading it, I know it will be one emotional chapter. Summary:

Last chapter, we ended on a high note like always. Yuri Yamamoto is living with Yano at his new place. This chapter, we get to see the story through Yuri’s perspective. Her mother gives her Nana’s intuition for her to use to take care of herself. However, she doesn’t go to Tokyo. Instead, she quits university and lives in Sapparo by the money earned on part-time jobs. Yuri has learned about Yano’s situation from her father and has sent him a letter about her wanting to see him. She even knows his new address from his grandmother. In front of his door, no one answers. But Yuri doesn’t give up and writes a note saying she will come again. She is determined isn’t she?

At her work place, there is a girl who is very beautiful. This beautiful young lady draws in lots of costumers for the fast food place. The other two female workers like to chitchat among themselves about Yuri. To them, Yuri seems almost too mature. She’s eighteen but she acts twenty-three. She looks twenty-three too. More than that, she doesn’t seem to care much about her surroundings. They are right. To Yuri, all of them look like idiots. She doesn’t care about any of them. She doesn’t even care for the pretty girl using her as a little sister at a party. But what she does care about is a boy who passes by her at the trainstation. Even though Yuri stands up to greet Yano, he glances her and passes by her. What is she trying to do exactly?

In her home, Yuri tries to write him more letters but throws them out. She wonders why she loses out to girls like Nanami and her co-worker. They are beautiful without ever trying while she is plain no matter what. The reason why Yano hates her is because she is ugly. She glances at the makeup. Will it work? As for Yano, he is now working at a bar. This attracts female constumers. The gender opposite of the girl at Yuri’s place! Yano’s boss talk about him to his friends at the bar. According to his story, Yano is very delingent. Once, he even works at five places to pay for his living expenses. Now, he only has two. The way he meets Yano is interesting. Yano is willing to do anything to work for him. Actually, funny enough, Yano even brings in a paintbrush to offer to paint his walls! Haha.

The ending is quite nice. Even though Yuri only glances in her co-worker’s direction, the cute girl offers the lipstick to her to try on. The co-worker is nice enough to point out Yuri’s positive features and how make-up will work well on her. In Yuri’s head, she thinks this girl is spewing nonsense and even she can tell she’s not pretty. However, in the end, the girl manages to put on make-up for Yuri from now on. Yuri is speechless.

Ramblings:

Even though I dislike Yuri a few chapters ago, I don’t dislike her anymore. She reminds me of a certain boy who once has feelings for me for a long time. She is very similar to him in many ways. Even though I don’t return his love, I feel bad at how hard he tried. But yeah, I can sort of empathize with Yuri. If this story is like my life story, Yano will never return her feelings even if he lives with her. It’s hard to like someone who you never liked in the first place. I feel for Yano too, like always. He’s always so hardworking, no matter what chapter I read. I really love him and I wish he and Nanami get back together soon. This story is very touching with its dialogue and narration. When Yuri thinks about how Yano must hate her because she’s ugly, it really got to me. A lot of girls are exactly like that. A lot of them I know and feel close to. Anyways, another excellent chapter. I want more Nanami though.
