Minnie: Hello everybody! It is Minnie once again with your weekly dose of Vampire Knight Guilty. As much as I love last episode, I did not think it will be subbed so quickly this week! As always, we need some vampires in our life right? Especially after watching that delicious Twilight movie and its hunk Edward Cullen! Oh my! Please ignore my fangirl like always and read on to see what our lovely vampire bishies are up to…
Right off the bat, we are treated with angst-driven Zero pointing his gun at the door, leaving Yuuki immobilize as to knock and enter or stay put. To Zero, Yuuki is a human turn into a vampire like him. But unlike him, she’s a pureblood and all purebloods are as arrogant as the rest of them. At last, Yuuki smirks and responds to Zero’s words. The human Yuuki has once known is now eaten by her vampire side. Oh, Yuuki, I remember that this is the point in the manga that I begin to like you.
As Yuuki runs out of the male dorms, Aidou chases her with the shoes Ruka has brought for Yuuki’s bare feet. During this chase, we learn that Aidou is still feeling awkward addressing her as his superior since he’s so rude to her before. This is why he forces himself to correct his words to her almost every single time. Even Yuuki herself is not used to this sort of treatment from Aidou. As Yuuki wears on her shoes, Aidou tells her that she should return to her room before Kaname gets worried. This is when she cries, signaling that she still does not know the rules abide by purebloods. They should never cry in front of others but to Yuuki, to cry only inwardly is a sin in itself.
Arriving at a door, Kaname prepares himself and meets Ichiru face to face who is guarding the coffin. Kaname orders Ichiru to lift the cover of the coffin to his uncle, in which Ichiru does nothing to disobey. In this exchange between them, we learn of two important matters. One, Ichiru shouldn’t have been born a twin since the twin fights for survival while they are still fetuses. One of them will inevitable eat the other one. This relates back to the past when the hunters’ ancestor ate a vampire in order to gain this ability to kill the creatures of the night now. The second part of the conversation is in regards to Kaname and Rido in the past. Kaname destroyed Rido into thousands of pieces but couldn’t kill him. Now, ten years later, Kaname swipes Ichiru’s sword in order to kill Rido once and for all.
Soon enough, we get to meet Yagari once again as he returns to the school. He stares up in the bedroom window that belongs to Zero, who is struggling with thoughts of a pure-blooded Yuuki. This is when the Chairman confronts Yagari about leaving right now. Yagari reveals to the Chairman that the Hunter Association send him to take Zero away. Since this is the case with Yagari, the Chairman doesn’t hesitate to raise his weapon his former friend in order to protect his son-like figure. However, in the middle of this, Zero jumps down, seeking blood. Before he loses all control of himself, Zero throws his gun to his former teacher and orders him to kill him right here and now.
Jumping scenes to the Rima situation, she is now unconscious in her room with a maid nearby. As for Kaname, he stabs not the man in the coffin since in the past, he cannot kill Rido himself, but his own hand. This is when Ichijou carries an unconscious Shiki inside. Shiki must have struggled a lot with Rido this entire time. Ichijou is surprised at what Kaname has done. I believe what Kaname is trying to do is awaken Rido inside his own body with the smell of a pure Kuran’s blood.
After the halfpoint, we are given a look back in the past with Yuuki’s parents. Father Kuran is standing solo in protection of his home against what I believe to be other vampires. Mother Kuran is standing on the balcony, looking down and having their last talk together. After living for over three thousand years, they finally have children and both agree it’s time to give Yuuki a different future. Once Mother Kuran is inside, Father Kuran is able to fight his hardest against the last of the Council’s dogs or more specifically Rido’s servant. This is when Rido finally appears himself. A quick nasty exchange is between the brothers about the past; more notably about Rido consuming the powers of Father Kura’s first child. I’m going to assume Rido did what Kaname did to Shizuka last season to that pureblooded child. I’m also going to assume that Rido wants more power so that’s why he’s after Yuuki. Unfortunately, the other vampires don’t stand a chance against Father Kuran and his awesome pureblood power hax. He even transforms one of them into a monster to attack Rido. We are left questioning about the outcome of this battle by returning to the present.
Meanwhile, Kaname is allowing the blood to flow from his hand to his uncle’s body. This is when out loud, Kaname tells everyone in the room that he’s working toward this day to come. Jumping back to the past, the transformed monster jumps and bites Rido while Rido throws a hunter sword at Father Kuran’s heart. At this unfair match, Kaname runs out and protects his father, claiming it’s his duty to defeat this filthy man. However, Father Kuran won’t let him and even points out that Kaname is not really his child, which puzzles me somewhat. Then, he vanishes thanks to the sword hitting his heart. In other words, he’s dead. Now, it is young Kaname versus Rido. Young Kaname has an advantage since the hunter’s sword is in his hands, but Rido also has an advantage in that young Kaname doesn’t have the guts to kill him yet. I won’t go into too much detail about this conversation except that it hints that Kaname is the reason why Rido is created and that Rido will one day come back stronger than ever to eat an even stronger Kaname for himself.
Moving on from the past, we get to see Ichijou in action. The blonde vampire wonders why Kaname can’t kill Rido in the past and why he’s being so reckless like always, even at this point. Listening to Ichijou somewhat, Kaname takes away his hand from Rido and watches as it reheals itself. Kaname is not one to be understood by anyone anyways. Tomorrow night, Kaname won’t be needing a weapon against Rido. Walking away after returning the sword to Ichiru, Ichijou questions out loud why Kaname can’t kill Rido himself. Well, a servant can’t kill its own master and Rido is the master that awakens Kaname. In other words, Kaname is actually older than all the other Kuran’s. He’s the ancestor of them all but it’s Rido who awakens him from his grave with blood I assume. Wow. Intense stuff here. So… Kaname is not Yuuki’s brother but her great great great great *adds more great* grandfather? Creeeepy!
The next scene belongs to Ichijou’s grandfather who is the head of that Council and the President of the Hunter Association. This talk is really wicked and makes my brain hurt. In summary, Ichijou’s grandfather wants Rido to defeat Kaname and take over as the head of the family, making the Council more powerful than before. Of course, this is the case since Kaname’s been against the Council for quite some time. As for Zero, he will become a factor in all this because well, he has drunk Yuuki’s blood and all. Ichiru is not a nuisance anymore and yeah, everything is so ironic. The head of a Council full of vampires meeting up with the head of an Association full of hunters? It’s like the polar bear huntings striking a deal with those who want to save the polar bears. Such an odd twist and I love it.
The episode ends with our two main characters. Yuuki is sitting in the forest, waiting for something to happen with Aidou. Zero is thrown in this this prison-like place by his former teacher, who tells him that he might be a vampire one day but for now, he’s a vampire hunter so he must know what to do. Yagari leaves Zero his gun as well. The Chairman seems to know what’s going on around here. A fight will happen soon. Rido vs Kaname. Vampires vs the gathering vampire hunters. Yuuki vs Zero? This is hinted by Zero but we don’t know for sure yet until the future episodes.
All in all, I have never given a 10 to a VK Guilty episode before but I have to give it to this one. Every single thing about this episode is well-executed. I like how they show us the past and the present and how it’s all coming together in one final showdown. I love every character in this episode, even Rido for being a fine, creepy antagonist and that hated Hunter’s president. In any case, I believe that the real shocker this episode is Kaname being an ancestor of all the Kurans. Did anyone see that coming besides those who read the manga? But seriously, the Kurans have some serious family issues. Then again, Zero has his own demons to handle as well. I can’t wait to see what Kaname and Zero are up to next episode. Did I mention that the Chairman is one of the best characters in this entire show? Hurray!

I totally agree! All the flashbacks, information that was given to us was excuted very well! It was all filled with, to me, non-stop action…or leading up to the action.
Either way this episode gave me more goosebumps then the last 2 episodes, Yuuki awakening, Shiki turning into Rido, Rido arriving, Rima fighting, etc.
Being a ZeroxYuuki fan that I am, the really sad part(s) in this episode was Zero turning his gun on Yuuki, and him turning into a level E D: T___T
And then Zero’s hunter teacher, forgot his name, forcing him to choose when he can’t even think straight just broke my already torn heart D: T___T
But the Chairman was actually serious right now…
I can’t wait for episode 10 now. I’m soo excited to see the whole confrontation between Yuuki, Rido, and Zero!!

My little sister complain that this episode isn’t as action packed as the last one but I disagree. I think the buildup and the flashbacks are very effective and adds a whole lot more the anime as a whole.
This episode gave me the goosebumps too. It’s just so dramatic and explains so much.
And, yes, I like you, lean more on Yuuki/Zero rather than Yuuki/Kaname and things are not looking good for our side atm.
I’m pretty sure Yagari has his reasons. But yeah, Zero is always the victim around here. I can’t wait for the next episode too.

Finally we got to see their past and what’s going on! I wasn’t really that surprise that this point but…
Kaname.. her great great great… grandfather? I agree I didn’t see that coming. Now my YuukixKaname totally broke, and it would be YuukixZero left, which doesn’t seem to go anywhere any further. Sad, but I don’t hope this anime would be ending like School Days! Cause it just made me go that vision now!

Oh yes. The Kaname thing blew me away. Yuuki/Kaname definitely has a higher chance than Yuuki/Zero IMO no matter how they are related. Yuuki and Kaname’s feelings are mutual. Yuuki’s feelings for Zero is iffy and Zero has a death flag all over him. I also hope it won’t end like School Days. Actually, I don’t want any anime to end like School Days… period. XD

haha… School Days is the most historical ending that ever happen to the main character xD!
True, we don’t want to see a bad ending for a least this series, but I it seem to be hint for bad ending to Kaname.
